Men, specifically asian men who smoke can increase their risks of suffering from hair loss. This is according to a study conducted by Lin-Hui Su and Tony Hsiu-Hsi Chen who surveyed 740 Taiwanese men between the ages of 40- 91. Based on their survey, the doctors reported that there is a positive association between the intensity of androgenetic alopecia (progressive thinning of the scalp hair) and smoking intensity among Asian men.
Androgenetic alopecia is one of the most common types of hair loss problem among men. Although environmental factors such as smoking may attribute to this condition, androgenetic alopecia is still believed by many to be mainly caused by genetic factors. Hair loss treatment medications, however, can prove to be costly when used overtime to prevent hair loss. They may also have unwanted side effects. This is perhaps the reason why men and women who suffer from androgenetic alopecia and similar hair loss conditions now prefer to have a hair transplant over using hair loss medications.

Why only Asian men have the risk of hair loss? Any way, thanks for the informative post.
