How to use Custom Domain in free hosted Blogger

Marimargma7.blogspot.com is now www.Telebabadqueen.com.

I have successfully set up my blogger blog to use a custom domain. I was quite intimidated by the technicalities about DNS, CName, etc. at first but I realized setting up a custom domain in blogger is easy.

I still have to figure it out though how I can redirect my blog to telebabadqueen.com (not www.Telebabadqueen.com or http://www.telebabadqueen.com) because telebabadqueen.com will not redirect to my site. I have to know that later but as for now, let me share how I set up my domain to work with my free hosted blogger blog.

Please note that I use a domain that I have bought from 1and1.com. I have problem purchasing the domain from godaddy via paypal so I decided to purchase telebabadqueen.com from other other registrars.

Anyway, I just followed the instructions provided by blogger help. I will rewrite those instructions based on how I set up my domain. Here is how to use a custom domain in blogger (based on how I did it).

1. Choose a domain name (telebabadqueen.com)

2. Buy the domain (from godaddy, 1and1, etc.)

You will receive an email with your control panel login id a few hours after you have registered your domain.

3. Edit your DNS settings

  • Log-in to your https://admin.1and1.com using your customer id and click on the administration tab.

  • Click Domains and from the New drop-down menu, select Create Subdomain.

  • Enter www in the box provided

  • Click the checkbox beside the subdoman (www.telebabadqueen.com).

  • Click the DNS menu and choose Edit DNS Settings.

  • Click the CNAME radio button

  • In the field next to Alias, enter ghs.google.com

  • Check the confirmation box and click ok

4. Set up your blog

  • Go to your blogger Dashboard and choose Settings. Select the Publishing tab and click on the custom domain link. Click on the Switch to advanced settings and enter your domain (www.telebabadqueen.com) in the space provided.

5. Sit back and relax

  • The set up is over. You can now relax and have fun with friends while waiting for your blog to redirect to your new domain. This may take up to 2 days. Fortunately though, my blogspot address started to redirect to my new domain a few hours (or was it minutes?) after the set up.

NOTE: I am no expert in setting up blogs. The instructions I have given are based on how I set up my blog to use a custom domain. If this does not work, please ask help from your domain registrar. You can also google for more posts on setting up custom domain for blogger.
